This smooth surface also makes the rotor more pad friendly by reducing the wear of the pad caused by the friction scraping against a sharp edge SP Performance Drilled and Slotted Brake Rotors With Optional Bright Silver Plating: Electro- plating is performed on our rotors to provide a brighter finish which is more appealing to the look of the rotor. When plating a rotor a metallurgical bond is formed between the plating and steel forming an iron rich alloy with tenacious bond where it will form its own protective oxide layer.
